And, we have fun!
SERVICES
The Speech Space offers a variety of services to meet each client's individual needs.
Services include assessment, treatment and consultation, which are outlined below.
Services can be provided virtually, in your home, or in the community.
ASSESSMENT
Assessments are an important first step when starting speech-language therapy.

Assessments involve collecting information about the client's developmental history, interviewing the client and caregiver, and conducting a mix of informal and formal testing activities, based on the identified concerns.

The results of assessments are used to determine the client's strengths and needs, set goals for therapy, choose the most appropriate intervention approach, and develop recommendations for how best to participate in other settings.

An assessment report that summarizes the client's communication profile and includes individualized recommendations can be provided.

TREATMENT
Speech-language therapy is client-centered and evidence-based to help each individual meet their specific communication goals.

Therapy can address the following domains:

Reading - phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding (sounding out words), reading comprehension and fluency

Writing - phonemic awareness and phonics, encoding (spelling), sentence structure, forming organized paragraphs, stories and essays

Phonological awareness/processing - rhyming, recognizing syllables, identifying and manipulating individual sounds in words

Expressive language - putting your thoughts into words so that others can easily understand you

Receptive language - following directions and understanding what others say

Articulation and phonology - pronouncing speech sounds

Social communication and theory of mind - from a neurodiversity affirming approach, this includes perspective taking, interacting with others, improving confidence and competence in social settings
